How's this old relic! This is called an OCTOPUS in the industry. It was originally coal but coverted in the 50s to gas. There was no blower, the heat rose through the huge ducts and fell in the 2 big returns. When we disposed of it, the we found the heat exchanger solid as can be. But the homeowner was tired of the very high gas bills and wanted cooling added.

Into the 20th Century!!! An asbestos removal specialist removed the asbestos covered ducts. Scott, Greg & Nathan removed the huge furnace piece by piece. Then the new went in! All new ducts were run connecting to existing old floor registers. A new return drop was made & installed. A chimney liner was installed to protect the chimney from the cool flue gases of the 80% furnace.

The final product: An American-Standard Freedom 80 2 stage gas furnace; WeatherKing cooling system with Copeland Scroll compressor & Multiflex indoor coil; General 1042 humidifier; Maple Chase 2 stage programmable thermostat. What a system!
