In 2006, we replaced several units for White's Ace Hardware stores. They give a good example of replacing "rooftop" units...

This old Carrier needed a new circuit board. That put it on the chopping block at the Nora store.

The opening in the roof. The unit sits on a "curb" and the ducts attach to the curb. We could either replace the curb with one that matches a new unit or use a "curb adapter". We chose the latter for price reasons.

The curb adapter set in place ready to have the new unit put on it.

The final project. The curb adapter makes for a funny looking job but works well and saves a considerable amount in roofing & duct modification costs.

Meanwhile, at the Carmel store - 2 old units were being replaced.

One had the gas heat section all rotted out. All were on their 2nd heat exchanger and many were facing a 3rd.

They are lifted on the roof by a crane. The operator from R. H. Marlin did a fantastic job getting behind the store to lift that unit.

The final result there. Again the curb adapter makes for in interesting look but we had excellent airflow.
