This antique was found in Old Towne Carmel. Originally it burned
coal but later had a conversion burner added. The burner was held in
place only by the gas line. A humidifier above the burner leaked all
over it. The tenant called for no heat as the blower motor had failed.
We found that flames shot out the front when it lit and flue gases
spilled out the top inspection door. The landlord had us replace it. The
heat exchanger had to be smashed apart with a sledgehammer. It was too
heavy to come out in 1 piece!

The modern replacement. This 80% efficient unit heats the house very
quickly, has good airflow to all of the rooms and will save a bundle on gas
bills! To vent properly in the oversized chimney, a metal liner was installed in
the chimney for the furnace & water heater to use.
